South Africa travel guide
There is nothing quite like flying into Cape Town or Johannesburg and stepping out into the amazing country of South Africa.
Filled to the brim with friendly locals and a diverse blend of ever-closer heritages, the country certainly earns its moniker as the Rainbow Nation devised by the late, great Nelson Mandela (or "Madiba" locally) who became the nation's first democratically elected president in 1994.
South Africa is a pretty big country and so understanding what you can see and do in different cities is key, unless you have a totally open itinerary and lots of time to dot about on a whim.
There are famous sights like Table Mountain (Cape Town) and Tulega Falls (found in KwaZulu-Natal province near the border with Lesotho) that are must-sees for fans of nature. The same type of traveller will also no doubt enjoy nature reserves found throughout the country. Just be sure to visit one that has a good record for ethical operating practices and safety. A great option for this is the Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve found in Krugersdorp, about 45 mins north west of central Johannesburg, where you will come face to face with lions, cheetahs , buffalos, rhinos and plenty of wild beasts from the safety of a vehicle.
