Koh Chang in a nutshell
The second largest island in Thailand next to Phuket, Koh Chang is a relatively unspoilt paradise with a tropical jungle interior filled with rivers, waterfalls and hiking trails as well as stunning coral reefs and beautiful beaches. As travellers find out about its beauty and charm, the island is becoming more of a vacation haven, with lots of pretty beaches to relax on, especially on the west coast, including popular White Sand Beach, Lonely Beach, tranquil Hat Khlong Phrao and Hat Kai Bae.
The island forms part of the Mu Ko Chang National Park, not surprising considering its impressive natural beauty. Located just a 5-hour drive from Bangkok, Koh Chang offers a more secluded, relaxed getaway than more touristy destinations. Located on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand, this magnificent slice of paradise, whose name means ‘Elephant Island’ in Thai, has some excellent accommodation options. But be prepared – this is an untouched haven. Life is simple here.
